30 days after 30

I would like to sit here and write only positive things because that’s the tone I’ve always strived for this blog. But I’ll keep it real for this one. Turning 30 didn’t live up to its expectations. I thought that morning I would wake up and fireworks would be going off all day, and perpetually for the rest of my life. My weekend was indeed very special and spent with my family and best friends. Good food was eaten, water-activities were carried out, presents were opened, birthday candles were blown out, and I felt very loved. Yet, the unavoidable happened-the birthday blues came crashing down.

Turning a new decade makes you go through a million different emotions. I was excited, disappointed, sad, angry, unapologetic, indifferent, secluded, calm, and peaceful. You also start to think about what you did in the last 10 years. Meg J. says 30s is not the new 20s. Was my 20s defining enough?

(brooding...)

Today, I appreciate my strengths and recognize my capabilities. I look forward to building a legacy, building a family, and continuing my journey.

Cheers to another 30 years.

Nine Zero One

That one time I had "balayage" done to my hair by the owner of Nine Zero One Salon, Nikki Lee...

I couldn't have felt prettier.

DIY Boyfriend Jeans

Above Tank: Zara (found here) | Hand Chain Bracelet: Santa Barbara Boutique (also love this one here) | Sandals: Halogen (found here) | Jacket: Anthropologie (found here) | Jeans: Old Navy (Found here) | Bag: Burberry Orchard House Check | Sunglasses: D&G

To turn any old pair of jeans into frayed boyfriend jeans, all you need is a pair of scissors. Take your jeans, or shorts, and lay them flat. Use the blade of the scissors to distress and loosen the fibers in the areas you wish until they begin to thin and fray (I did the knee areas and back pockets). Be sure not to make large holes or gaps to keep a natural look. Pull out the threads to assist the frayed look. Then throw them in the washer/dryer and you’re done! The more they’re worn, the better they look!

Santa Barbara, UCSBstrong

Dress: Black Halo (found here) | Sandals: Halogen (found here

Last weekend I attended the wedding one of my UCSB alumnus in the bright and beautiful downtown Santa Barbara. I decided to change up my routine and go with a classic bold, black number. This was mainly because this dress by Black Halo exposes just the right amount of skin, appropriate for the wedding.

I paired the beautiful dress with my bold leather whites for a black & white Spring harmony.

White on White

Blazer: Mango (here) | Jeans: Max Studio (similar here) | Sandals: Halogen (here) | Top: Zara | Sunglasses: Dolce&Gabbana | Jewelry: Cara,  H&M | Bag: Imported from Iran

There is something to love about the simplicity and freshness of all white. Head to toe in white gives a crisp, clean look. Be sure to remember proportion is everything when wearing all of any one color.

Are you ready for an all-white-everything summmmaaa?

Incoco Sticky Nails

Nails: INCOCO

If you're into multitasking at your desk like me, these sticky nails are the best way to go. I've worked with other brands before that had issues such as not sticking or would take forever to remove. However, this brand, Incoco, makes life seamless, simple and fun--and even lasts 2 weeks. All you need is a nail file and a few minutes. I've gotten so good at it that my record is 7 minutes for both hands!

Yes, I can do my nails faster than the guys can wash my car. Literally, this happened.

Jannice's (right) Watch-Cartier (found here) | Bracelet -Tiffany's (found here)

Jan Tan and I fed our bodies with goodness at the famous Fig and Olive in Newport Beach. In place of butter, they use olive oil from the French Rivera for all of their dishes.
menu’s core ingredient of olive oil, which we use in place of butter in our dishes.
Our palates were mostly aroused by this pulpo gallega below. Nom Nom Nom....

Selfie Squared

Holly (left): Dress: BeBe (found here) | Shoes: YSL (found here) | Nadia (right): Top: Intermix (found here) | Skirt: BeBe (found here)

We shop together...We take Selfies together ...

Holly chose this bright Springtime dress as its keyhole and slim-fit showed off her svelte curves, while keeping her modest with long sleeves. As for me, I fell in love with this long double-slit dress the moment I put it on. I just couldn't stop dancing, as it screams playfulness.

I'm banging

Bracelet: Azaara | Necklace: vintage

Looking for a healthy change? Try bangs! They really accessorize your face. Ask your stylist to cut them long on the sides to frame your face and give more of a feminine feel. If you're looking for edgy, go above your brows.

I like the messy, piecey bangs for a more quirky and cool-not prim and proper look. These bangs work on all face shapes as long as you mess them up with your fingers to give them some separation.

San Francisco is Always Right

 Recommended Good Eats:

For some authentic Vietnamese roll-it-yourself minced sugarcane shrimp and banana-leaf-wrapped beef goodness

For bite size but big in flavor coffee (that's how it's really done in Italy, duh) and to die for farm-to-table egg croissants

For some yummy Argentinean style brains, tongue, and bone marrow (if you're into that) and a beautiful rooftop view to share good stories

For the best Irish coffee in town and a waitress who gives sweet, tingling hugs

SF Epiphanies:

Share your vulnerabilities. It makes you closer.

Acting 12 again in your hotel room with your cousins is way more fun than you when you were 12.

Don’t bring your kids to a bar unless you’re ready for a dirty-look-a-thon.

Quiet time is necessary and only makes loud, goofy time more awesome.

Family road trips always go down in history.

Don’t live by the rules. Just live. C'est la vie.

Insta Obsessed

A picture says a thousand words. A thousand pictures says a lot more.
Kinda obsessed with Instagram's new editing features.
